When considering price, along with perhaps influence too, often times there are manufactures within the Swatch Group who have overtaken Omega. Having said that, the brand still looks after to command respect as the flagship of the group and as the timekeeper for the more recent incarnations of James Bond plus the Vancouver Winter Olympics 2010. The brand began in 1848. In Nineteen thirty, it merged with Tissot to develop SSIH, which actually joined with another watch conglomerate, ASUAG, to build the Swatch Group in '83, with Omega as the innovator. In the Nineties, the company had been able grow directly into Chinese economy and so establish a firm foothold in Asia. And also this brought about a high growth in production numbers, placing it neck-and-neck together with Rolex.

And from now on, Omega continues to be a major rival caused by technology. In the past, Omega has introduced the innovative coaxial escapement to several choices, notably the Constellation, Seamaster, Speedmaster, and De Ville, that has pushed the business back into the technological frontrunners in its segment. Swatch Group subsidiary Nivarox-FAR finally mastered the production of tricky, oil-free parts of the machine produced by the Englishman George Daniels, although escapement will continue to include lubrication as the long-term results of dry coaxial movements are less than satisfactory. Thus the most important plus for this escapement design remains high rate stability after careful regulation. So Omega will continue to surprise and can look to a bright future.
